faith leaders network

DB-faith-leaders-network-lo(2)The Faith Leaders Network (FLN), is a new innovation, born from the desire of faith leaders to

  • Engage further and directly with other faith leaders
  • Engage and influence those strategic level statutory leaders  whose decision making affects their communities
  • Widen their interaction with the local community, and act together to offer support to those in need in those communities.

Details of the next meeting of the Faith Leaders Network

With senior level involvement from local public bodies, good faith engagement, and the beginning of good engagement with the media, the FLN has the potential to make a great impact in our communities.
Background and Future Activities

The first open Forum to propose the development of the FLN, drew confirmation of attendance from 60 people, including engagement from the Leader, Chief Executive, and various department heads and Cabinet members of DMBC, the Chief Superintendent of Police and Colleagues, Board level representation from the PCT and the Fire Service.  Congregational faith leaders are involved from four faiths, including a number of Imams, Sikh Priests, and Christians from varied backgrounds.

Actions

Following our Launch last November, the Network has been active in

  • Seeking to support local communities through the recession
  • Providing a community response to the destructive presence of the EDL, demonstrating our peaceful community
  • working towards the development of a Winter Homelessness Shelter project, with partners.

We’ll be meeting again before the end of the year, with details available shortly.
